Custom Residency Programs

At LEAP we believe that through the process of artistic inquiry and expression, students become creative thinkers, confident communicators and collaborative community members who are prepared to succeed in school and inspired to be lifelong learners. LEAP’s Custom Residency programs aim to support schools in engaging their students through our arts-integrated, co-teaching model. LEAP contracts directly with NYC schools and community centers for multi-session residencies during the school day, after school, and Saturdays, delivering high-quality, standards-aligned learning experiences. Aligned with NYC DOE Blueprints for Teaching and LEarning in the Arts, Custom Residency programs integrate the core academic subjects with visual arts, theater, dance, music, or the moving image.

LEAP Teaching Artists partner with classroom teachers to:
- Support core curriculum objectives
- Cultivate artistic inquiry strategies and skills
- Provide a safe environment for creative thinking, confident communicating, and collaboration among the school community
- Differentiated learning modalities, including special needs and ELL students
- Collaborative planning and team-teaching to facilitate arts and academic integration

Through a LEAP Partnership, students will have:
- Increased engagement with school community measured by school attendance; class participation; homework; interest in
more subjects; connection with family, teachers, and peers
- Development of key social and emotional skills for academic achievement and lifelong learning: creativity, critical thinking,        collaboration,  and communication
