Aesop's Fables

A professional acting company uses selections from Aesop’s fables including the Wind versus the Sun and the Fox and the Grapes to introduce students to the roots of storytelling.  This assembly is targeted for grades K-3.

African Music and Storytelling

LEAP musician Kwame Nkrumah, a native of Ghana, performs songs and stories from West Africa.  Students learn the history and importance of these art forms within African culture in this colorful, lively program.

An Introduction to Voices of the Band

A dynamic Leap musician introduces students to the four families of instruments, musical vocabulary, individual instruments, and musical styles from classical to ragtime.  Students are encouraged to put these newfound skills into practice by playing an instrument.

Audience-Made Dances

Students participate in the choreographic process and discover how dances are built from various movement ideas. Right before the students' eyes, dance professionals from Notes in Motion create an original work that incorporates dance suggestions from the audience.

Leap musicians perform popular Blues and Bluegrass songs for students.  The musicians highlight the historical relevance of these music genres within American social and cultural movements.

Dance Performance

Students are introduced to many exciting forms of dance from jazz, hip-hop and tap, to ballet and modern technique.  Students from the audience are invited to join the performance.
