LEAP Literacy

The Arts are integral to accessible & ongoing literacy learning.
LEAP Literacy is an arts integration model dedicated to rejuvenating literacy education in New York City school systems, while also addressing the inherent challenges in teaching literacy in NYC. LEAP Literacy is led by professional teaching artists who prioritize and celebrate students, their cultures, and their experiences through arts-based literacy learning. The program aligns and expands upon the new NYC literacy curriculums, elevating accessibility to and equity in language acquisition and investing more deeply in social and emotional learning (SEL).
LEAP Literacy can be taught through the art genre of your choice including: music, dance, visual arts, and/or theater and is tailored to meet the unique needs of your students – from reading comprehension and phonics to simply developing a love for reading and learning.
